02/20/11

Decades have passed since the 70's.
Too much co-called education and jobs taken to
pay the bills have not eradicated those echo's of
wonder, exploration and Freedom.

Druid Heights.
S.S.Vallejo.
Even now, when caught up in the shallow corporate nonsense
and sweating blood over projects and deadlines that amount to naught, there is that eternal song that we can
all hear when we calm down, relax and simply be.

I never met Alan Watts, Roger Somers or Elsa Gidlow yet
reading the books by Watts, listening to his lectures on tape and reviewing articles about Druid Heights remind me
that there _is_ a Way we can all step back into.

I recall Alan talking about the Cloud-Water men.
People that would flow like water.
People that understood that ease of effort is not laziness.

I once thought that the opportunity for me to meet Alan
was gone on that November 16, 1973 morning.

What a fool.

During long walks when "my" mind becomes quiet by itself
and walking is simply walking, something special but quite
ordinary is noticed in the calm. It might be arrogant and maybe lunacy to say I am walking with Alan.

Stranger still, it seems he is walking with me.

Thank you, Mr. Watts.
Never imagined that opening the book "This is It"
in 1974 would eventually open the door to a Universe that
was always there, all around, inside & out.
