I wonder what David thinks about OWS!

And, wow, look at my naive self up there wondering about what a hipster is. Ha! 2011 has sure spilled a lot of ink about THAT boring term.

Dave, you are totally right about the Man being on the run pre-Nine-Eleven. The Battle in Seattle in 99, and we ruined MTV's The Real World in Chicago in 2000. The energy was totally in the air right up until that damn morning. I think that really good energy can still be found, but it can't find a center--we're on the run now, it seems.

"Now those without sin might try to denigrate my contemporaries by calling them “hipsters” to which I reply “it takes one to know one.” If I have to be hipster then I take the word back, like when Lord Buckley was one of us or when all the “colored people” turned black."

hipsters?

apparently, "hipsters" are the wave of youth right behind your wave. and when they arrive, it makes you look bad, so you hold that against them. it's sort of fear of growing old, I guess.

but, that said, there are legit reasons to loathe certain aspects of hipsterdom. I mean, geez, look what happened to the lower east side! while it was my home for ten years, I refuse to even go near that place now... sad.
